Tony Lupian-Godines
16-year sentence for a nonviolent cannabis charge

Yadira Lupian-Godines works in HR at one of CA’s biggest cannabis brands, all while her husband, Tony, is serving a 16-year sentence for a nonviolent cannabis charge. Tony grew up very poor in the Watts projects of Los Angeles, and later started selling weed to support his five children. In 2011, federal agents raided Tony and Yadira’s homes, and Tony was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison.

“Tony always did everything for his kids. He loves his kids. His drive to make more money was to not have them struggle the way he had to struggle.”

"He’s gonna be away for a pretty long time. There’s so many things I would do to help him out. I’d even say, ‘I’d switch places with you for a bit.”
